Ruptured Pectoral Tendon

Overview
The pectoral tendon is the tendon that attaches the pectoralis major muscle to the head of the humerus or upper arm. In most cases you will feel or hear the pectoral tendon pop due to it being disconnected from the head of the humerus.  It is also very important to note that you may be able to notice a physical muscle abnormality in the muscle itself.  This injury is common in bodybuilding and specifically with the bench press. A ruptured pectoral tendon is a severe injury, and it is important to immediately seek medical help if you suspect that you have incurred this injury.  If the injury is severe enough, then surgical intervention may be required where the surgeon will perform a pectoral tendon repair procedure.
