Obliques Anatomy

Anatomy of the Oblique Muscles
The oblique muscles are located on the outer portion of the abdominals and are often referred to as the side muscles.  It is important to understand that there are internal and external oblique muscles, both of which wrap around the outside of the waist and connect to the linea alba, which is a cord of connective tissue that runs down the center of the abdominals.  These muscles assist in rotating the core of the body, as well as in supporting the internal organs of the body and with the breathing process.
